District Recognizes Holistic Child Champions During National Mental Health Awareness Week Doddridge County, WV – May 12–16 marks National Mental Health Awareness Week, a time to highlight the importance of mental well-being and to honor those who go above and beyond to support it. In recognition of this vital week, the Doddridge County Schools Holistic Child Team is proud to celebrate five exceptional staff members who have been named the 2025 Holistic Child Champions for Mental Health. These individuals have shown outstanding dedication to student wellness by serving as advocates, role models, and trusted adults within their school communities. Their commitment helps foster safe, supportive environments where students feel comfortable seeking guidance and mental health support. 🏅 2025 Holistic Child Champions for Mental Health: • Countywide – Cole Griffin • DCELA – Lisa Talkington • DCES – Myra Lipscomb • DCMS – Nicole Davis • DCHS – Rhonda Travis These staff members were nominated for consistently showing empathy, taking initiative to support students in need, and working closely with the Holistic Child Team to advance student mental health initiatives across the district. “We are incredibly grateful for the work these individuals do every day,” said Scott Cochran, Superintendent. “Their commitment to student well-being plays a critical role in creating safe, inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive.” As we observe Mental Health Awareness Week, Doddridge County Schools extends heartfelt thanks to these champions—and to all staff who support the mental and emotional health of our students each and every day. We would also like to thank the Doddridge County Family Resource Center for their donation of gifts to our nominees.

Softball Schedule Update Tonight’s softball game against Ritchie County has been canceled. The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM and will be played at our home field.

Reminder: DCHS is a closed campus. We are having issues with students signing out for lunch. This action is not allowed.

Just as spring brings a bloom of hope after long winters, parenting too can blossom with the right support. As educators and staff, you see the joys and struggles families face every day. Parent Coaching is here to help parents in our district find encouragement, tools, and renewed confidence—so they can experience the beauty in their parenting journey. Together, we can support stronger families and brighter futures.

DCHS Loves Our Cooks

The Senior walk will be this Monday, May 5th. Seniors will leave the high school around 8:15. The first stop will be the ELA, elementary, and then the middle school. Remember to bring your caps and gowns to school with you on Monday. If you do not have your cap and gown, you can let us know.

🥇🏆State Champions🏆🥇 🐴The Doddridge FFA horse evaluation team will be representing West Virginia FFA in Indianapolis Indiana at the 2025 National Convention and Expo! Students judged six classes western horsemanship, ranch pleasure, hunter under saddle, stock type halter, ranch conformation, hunter in hand and gave 2 sets of reasons. Band & Show Choir Take Center Stage at DCHS! Today, students across Doddridge County High School came together during the school day for a special in-school performance featuring our talented band and show choir, a chance to cheer on the musicians and vocalists who so often show their support at athletic competitions. Whether performing on the sidelines or on the stage, these students bring energy, pride, and heart to everything they do. Today, we returned the favor by putting the spotlight on them and celebrating their incredible talent. It was their time to shine and they did not disappoint! #UnitedToMakeADifference
