📢 Just Two Days Away!

We’re excited to welcome Building Hope – Be the Difference back to Doddridge County Middle School on October 30, 2025, for our 7th grade class! 💚✨

We began bringing this impactful program to DCMS in 2024, and we’re proud to continue the tradition. Created by Mark Urso, a proud West Virginia native, Building Hope focuses on empathy, compassion, and understanding—while also introducing students to career opportunities in construction and the natural gas industries.

Based on curriculum developed by Changepoint Learning, the program encourages students to break down barriers, support one another, and build a stronger school community.

We can’t wait to help our 7th graders see how they can make a difference—right here at home. 🌟

Honoring Our Outstanding Mechanics!

Doddridge County Schools proudly recognized Josh Jozwick, Elliott Ackman, and Bruce Kaschner from the Doddridge County Bus Garage for earning First Place in our region for State Inspections!

This achievement marks the fourth time in six years our team has earned a first-place ranking — with the other two years finishing second and third. Their continued excellence ensures that our buses remain safe, reliable, and ready to transport our students each day.

We deeply appreciate their dedication, attention to detail, and commitment to student safety.

Board Recognition Spotlight 💛💚

The Doddridge County Board of Education proudly recognizes our Doddridge FFA Horse Evaluation Team for their outstanding accomplishments! 🐎✨

Earlier this fall, four of our Bulldogs traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete in the Eastern States Exposition Horse Evaluation Career Development Event. The team placed 3rd in the eastern region, with three members finishing in the top nine — a tremendous achievement that reflects their hard work, skill, and dedication! 👏

🏆 Team Members:
Bell Holtz, Zoey Richards, Rogan Smith, and Trey McDonough

Under the direction of instructors Mr. Rabel and Ms. Wean, these students have demonstrated exceptional ability in evaluation, reasoning, and presentation — representing Doddridge County with excellence.

Next up, they’re heading to Columbus, Ohio next week to represent Doddridge County and the State of West Virginia at the National Competition! 🐴

We are incredibly proud of these talented students and wish them the very best as they take their #MissionInMotion to the national stage! 💚💛

🚁 The new season of Drone Competitions is here, and we’re ready to take flight! This year, we’re excited to have **four teams representing our schools—three from the middle school and one from the high school**. Students will put their skills to the test in four exciting categories: **Teamwork, Pilot Challenge, Coding & Autonomous Flight, and Leadership & Communication**. These competitions, facilitated by the **REC Foundation and sponsored and partnered by major organizations such as Google, Amazon, NASA, Kids in STEM, and others**, give our students the opportunity to push their limits, grow as leaders, and showcase their talents on a bigger stage. It’s going to be an incredible season filled with innovation, collaboration, and high-flying fun!

📅 September is Attendance Awareness Month! 💼✏️

Did you know that students who miss 9 or fewer days in a 180-day school year are significantly more likely to stay on track academically and graduate on time?

📉 Missing just 2 days a month—even if excused—can lead to learning gaps, lower grades, and decreased engagement.

✅ Helpful tips for families to support strong attendance:
• Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine to make mornings smoother.
• Schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
• Keep communication open with teachers and the school if your child is struggling.
• Make school a priority—help your child understand that showing up matters.
• Plan vacations or trips during school breaks to avoid missed days.

Let’s work together to build strong attendance habits and support every child’s path to success—because every day counts!

Doddridge County Middle School and Doddridge County High School are joining forces to kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with a heartfelt initiative leading up to the first home high school football game against Ritchie County on Friday, September 5th, with the theme “GOLD RUSH to CRUSH Childhood Cancer” set by High School Coach Bobby Burnside. DCMS students will be provided with the opportunity to partake in the rivalry by attending an after-school GLOW social with a “Car crushing event” before heading by bus to the DCHS football game, where they’ll cheer from their very own Middle School Student Section.

Permission forms are required ONLY if students are transported from the social to the game via school bus. Parents must provide pickup after the game at the football field.
