Kingston Roberts, a handsome aspiring wrestler, led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Doddridge County Board of Education regular meeting on November 18, 2024. Thank you, Kingston, for starting the meeting off strong!


At its regular meeting on November 18, 2024, the Doddridge County Board of Education members recognized Jennifer Johnson, Doddridge County Middle School’s art teacher, for being named the West Virginia Art Education Association’s 2024 Middle Art Educator of the Year. Miss Johnson was commended for her dedication to her students, and exceptional ability to inspire through art. The award, presented on November 8 at WVU’s Museum of Art, highlights her impact and the importance of art in education.


The following students were presented the Superintendents Challenge Coin for their outstanding display of Character and Commitment toward the #unitedtomakeadifference mission:

Doddridge County High School is excited to host Valley Wetzel in the first round of the Class A football playoffs! Join us at Cline Stansberry Stadium on Friday, November 15th, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: Doddridge County Extracurricular Passes will not be accepted for playoff games, per WVSSAC guidelines. All tickets must be purchased electronically through GoFan; no paper tickets will be available at the gate. We’ll post the ticket link and QR code on our media channels as soon as they’re provided by WVSSAC.

CHECK OUT OUR NEW TRUCKING SIMULATOR TONIGHT!
Doddridge County Schools invites everyone to stop by and see our new Trucking Simulator before the football game this evening! Thanks to the incredible generosity of Hall Drilling, our high school students now have access to a state-of-the-art simulator that provides hands-on truck driving experience. This cutting-edge tool not only offers students a safe environment to learn and practice, but also helps them prepare for their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) when they turn 18.
We’re sincerely grateful for Hall Drilling’s investment in our students’ futures, and we’re excited to see how their support will make a lasting impact on our community. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this new resource in action and learn more about this amazing program!

Superintendents Challenge Coins Presented!





EVACUATION DRILLS
Doddridge County Schools will be having planned evacuation drills today, Wednesday, October 23, 2024. There is no cause for alarm, and this is just a drill to ensure our threat preparedness plan is working effectively.

Doddridge County Board of Education Regular Meeting
At tonight's Doddridge County Board of Education meeting Paislee Sponaugle, a fifth grader at Doddridge County Middle School, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board also donated an unserviceable bus to the Smithburg Fire Department for training purposes. "Student bus safety is an important part of our school system, and we are very pleased to work with the Smithburg Fire Department so that they, along with our other county agencies, have the necessary training resources available” said Superintendent Scott Cochran.

ATTENTION PARENTS:
Doddridge County Schools would like to clarify that tomorrow, Monday, October 14th, is a regular school day, with both staff and students in attendance. It is our understanding that some incorrect information may be circulating, and we want to ensure everyone is informed. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!


Tonight, the Doddridge County Board of Education welcomed Sheriff Boring and the Doddridge County Sheriff’s department to their meeting and School Resource Officer Kirby Miller. This year marks the 15th year for Prevention Resource Officers in the school system. The board held a small reception to recognize the partnership in student safety and mentorship provided by the officers.
Chad Evans, president of the Board of Education stated “Doddridge County Schools is honored to present this award to Sheriff Boring, his dedicated deputies, and School Resource Officer, Kirby Miller, in recognition of their unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our students and community. Through their tireless collaboration with our schools, they have created a secure and thriving environment for our children. Their dedication to safeguarding our students is truly invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for the vital role they play in ensuring the future of Doddridge County. This essential work is made possible by the continued support of our taxpayers and the school levy. Your contributions are not only crucial to maintaining the safety of our students but also to the ongoing success of this vital partnership. We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional efforts of Sheriff Boring, his deputies, and SRO Miller, and we deeply appreciate your role in helping us protect and nurture the future of our community.”
Superintendent Scott Cochran also thanked the officers, “School safety is a primary responsibility of public schools. We want to recognize Sheriff Boring, his deputies and Mr. Miller not only for keeping our students safe, but for being exemplary role models in our schools.”

REMINDER FOR PARENTS: Tomorrow, Monday, October 7th, is a scheduled Professional Learning Day for our staff. As a result, students will not have school.
