Doddridge County Board of Education Meeting
At tonight's Doddridge County Board of Education regular meeting Isabella Holtz led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board also gave a warm welcome to newly hired employees.
Today staff from our Early Learning Academy, Elementary, Middle, and High School attended a training hosted by the county from PBIS Rewards. Staff received refresher training on the foundations of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, as well as new training regarding behavior instruction, teaching/reteaching expectations, schoolwide matrix, and new features within the PBIS Rewards platform.

Members of Doddridge County Schools Communities In Schools/Holistic Child Team kicked off the "Back to School" season by attending the CIS Student Support Institute, "All In For WV Kids", in Morgantown WV. Training sessions were designed to enhance our teams' skills and knowledge to become better equipped to support our students for the upcoming school year. We are looking forward to seeing our students for the 2024-25 school year.
Our team had the opportunity to meet Governor Jim Justice, First Lady Cathy Justice and Baby Dog while attending the conference.
The High School had a great time at the JASON Learning educator training .
Freshmen, get ready for class color day of homecoming spirit week! Stop and see Miss Berkey at New Student Orientation on August 7th to order a white Bulldog t-shirt. All new students are welcome to order a shirt as well to start the year off showing your Bulldog Pride. You will be able to order and pay that day or place your order and pay by Friday, August 16th. T-shirts are $20, checks should be made payable to DCHS.

Our CTE instructors participated in an INCREDIBLE JASON Learning training on Wednesday with Kim Castagna and Neil Ritchie. The guys spent quality time navigating the platform and discovering ways to implement their localized curriculum, as well as many other activities/projects found within the JASON Learning site. Another great professional development day in Doddridge County!!!

Doddridge County High School Freshman and Transfer Orientation Information
Attention Doddridge County Cross Country Runners!
High School and Middle School Cross Country practice will begin August 5th at 6:30 PM at the Doddridge County Park.

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, July 15th. Taylor Bodkin led the Pledge of Allegiance.
High School teacher Cassie Coffman and students Olivia See and Ryleigh Jordan presented a short video to the Board on their recent Jason Argonaut Expedition to Madera Canyon, Arizona. They thanked the Board for the opportunity to study entomology and desert biodiversity. They were able to study with renowned scientists and conduct their own original research.

JASON Learning Trip
June 17-21, 2024, Mrs. Coffman accompanied Olivia See and Ryleigh Jordan on the JASON Learning trip to Madera Canyon, Arizona. While there, they were guided by the Bug Chicks, Kristie Reddick, and Jessica Honaker, and studied the desert biodiversity. Each morning started with a hike to bird watch. After breakfast, they worked on their science project for the week. Olivia studied birds and the different species in the canyon, Ryleigh studied why scorpions are fluorescent at night under UV light and Mrs. Coffman studied the leaf density of the Arizona Sycamore near dry and wet creek beds. At the end of the week, each presented their hypothesis and conclusion to the group.
The group also visited the San Xavier District to learn about the Riparian Restoration Project and the Biosphere 2. In addition, they also got to see the magnificent sunset over the Santa Rita Mountains, learn about some of the stars and galaxies, and see a full moon on Summer Solstice. The trip would end with the electricity going out on the first day of the Monsoon season. The double rainbow they saw over the mountains was the icing on the cake, along with lifelong friendships that were made.
