Hayden Dotson, a first-grade student at Doddridge County Elementary School, proudly led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Doddridge County Board of Education meeting on Monday, May 19. Hayden enjoys reading and art, and stays active through softball, basketball, and gymnastics. She dreams of becoming a pop star or a doctor one day, and we believe she can do both! #UnitedToMakeADifference

As the school year comes to a close, we want to send thanks to Zona Hutson for the time she spent with Mr. Ross’s and Mr. McCants’s Career Exploration students this semester teaching them about Personal Finance. We are thankful for Zona and lucky to have here in Doddridge County.

District Recognizes Holistic Child Champions During National Mental Health Awareness Week Doddridge County, WV – May 12–16 marks National Mental Health Awareness Week, a time to highlight the importance of mental well-being and to honor those who go above and beyond to support it. In recognition of this vital week, the Doddridge County Schools Holistic Child Team is proud to celebrate five exceptional staff members who have been named the 2025 Holistic Child Champions for Mental Health. These individuals have shown outstanding dedication to student wellness by serving as advocates, role models, and trusted adults within their school communities. Their commitment helps foster safe, supportive environments where students feel comfortable seeking guidance and mental health support. 🏅 2025 Holistic Child Champions for Mental Health: • Countywide – Cole Griffin • DCELA – Lisa Talkington • DCES – Myra Lipscomb • DCMS – Nicole Davis • DCHS – Rhonda Travis These staff members were nominated for consistently showing empathy, taking initiative to support students in need, and working closely with the Holistic Child Team to advance student mental health initiatives across the district. “We are incredibly grateful for the work these individuals do every day,” said Scott Cochran, Superintendent. “Their commitment to student well-being plays a critical role in creating safe, inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive.” As we observe Mental Health Awareness Week, Doddridge County Schools extends heartfelt thanks to these champions—and to all staff who support the mental and emotional health of our students each and every day. Softball Schedule Update Tonight’s softball game against Ritchie County has been canceled. The game has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM and will be played at our home field.

Reminder: DCHS is a closed campus. We are having issues with students signing out for lunch. This action is not allowed.
