In a heartwarming demonstration of community spirit, Mrs. Y-S, Mrs. Kristen, Mrs. Sarah and Mrs Kelly’s class recently participated in National Coffee with a Cop Day by hosting a special event to honor local law enforcement. The students and their teacher extended a warm invitation to members of the county sheriff’s office and the state police department, providing them with coffee and pastries as a token of appreciation for their service.
National Coffee with a Cop is a nationwide initiative designed to foster positive conversations between police officers and the communities they serve. By sharing a simple cup of coffee, barriers are broken down, trust is built, and mutual understanding encourages safer, more inclusive neighborhoods. The class embraced this opportunity not only to show gratitude but also to learn firsthand about the important role police officers play in everyday life.
The event was thoughtfully organized, with students offering freshly brewed coffee and a variety of pastries, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The officers expressed their gratitude for the gesture, emphasizing how such engagements strengthen community bonds and humanize the often challenging work they perform. Meanwhile, students gained valuable insight into law enforcement, discovering that officers are approachable individuals dedicated to public safety.
This simple yet powerful interaction offers a reminder that meaningful connections between citizens and law enforcement begin with open dialogue and hospitality. The class demonstrated that even a modest act—like providing coffee and pastries—can create a foundation for mutual respect and understanding. As National Coffee with a Cop continues to grow in popularity, such initiatives pave the way for stronger, more empathetic communities where everyone feels heard and valued.

Our Travel WV class had an unforgettable adventure today!

They explored the breathtaking New River Gorge with a once-in-a-lifetime Bridge Walk, grabbed some delicious pizza at Pies & Pints, and wrapped it up with a fun lesson in disc golf. What a perfect mix of adventure, food, and new skills! Stay tuned for their next trip to Smoke Hole Caverns, Seneca Rocks, and Blackwater Falls.

📅 September is Attendance Awareness Month! 💼✏️

Did you know that students who miss 9 or fewer days in a 180-day school year are significantly more likely to stay on track academically and graduate on time?

📉 Missing just 2 days a month—even if excused—can lead to learning gaps, lower grades, and decreased engagement.

✅ Helpful tips for families to support strong attendance:
• Set a consistent bedtime and morning routine to make mornings smoother.
• Schedule appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
• Keep communication open with teachers and the school if your child is struggling.
• Make school a priority—help your child understand that showing up matters.
• Plan vacations or trips during school breaks to avoid missed days.

Let’s work together to build strong attendance habits and support every child’s path to success—because every day counts!
