EVACUATION DRILLS
Doddridge County Schools will be having planned evacuation drills today, Wednesday, October 23, 2024. There is no cause for alarm, and this is just a drill to ensure our threat preparedness plan is working effectively.
Looking ahead to next week: DCES will participate in Red Ribbon Week!

Thrasher Engineering employee, Jeff Gola, recently visited DCES to educate students about the American Disabilities Act and why buildings need to be ADA accessible. This experience corelates with the National Disability Week that runs through this week.
Thank you, Thrasher Engineering, for your continued partnership with Doddridge County Schools.

Doddridge County Board of Education Regular Meeting
At tonight's Doddridge County Board of Education meeting Paislee Sponaugle, a fifth grader at Doddridge County Middle School, led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board also donated an unserviceable bus to the Smithburg Fire Department for training purposes. "Student bus safety is an important part of our school system, and we are very pleased to work with the Smithburg Fire Department so that they, along with our other county agencies, have the necessary training resources available” said Superintendent Scott Cochran.
DCES students in gym class have been enjoying a festive obstacle course including hay bale jumps and pumpkin weaving!

Students in Mrs. Stover's class recently enjoyed their Special Persons lunch! Students were excited to eat lunch with their guest. The week prior, students in Mrs. Hayes' class enjoyed their Special Persons lunch!
Now that 1st grade has had a chance to have all classes enjoy their Special Persons lunch, DCES will now move to 2nd grade classes. The first class will be Mrs. Ferguson's on November 8th.

We have some pretty amazing cooks at Doddridge County Elementary School that go far and beyond to make sure our students are nutritionally cared for. Thank you, Tina, Sara, Deborah, and Amanda, for all you do for our students at DCES!
Students will enjoy a special festive treat with the monthly birthday lunch!

Congratulations to our Little Dogs of the Week: Ethan Hayes, Waylon Echard, Dustin Lehew, Ace Masters, and Joey Landers.
We are proud of your amazing accomplishment!

Today, through a partnership with our Holistic Child Department/Communities in Schools, Child Nutrition program, Route 18 Farmer's Market and the Doddridge County Farmer's Market, DCES students were able to participate in an attendance incentive of an onsite "Famer's Market". Attendance Matters and being at school on this beautiful day allowed our students to participate in this event. Students were given tokens and bags to shop for a variety of produce including cabbage, peppers, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, apples, and many more other fruits and vegetables. Students were excited to shop for their own produces and could not wait to get their items home to help with a family meal!
DCES would like to thank our Holistic Child Department/Communities in Schools, Child Nutrition program, Route 18 Farmer's Market and the Doddridge County Farmer's Market for their time and resources to ensure our students are making healthy choices.

When it matters most, we know we can count on the kindness of Doddridge Countians. A HUGE "Thank You" to our Doddridge County students, families, and friends for turning a vision into reality. Words cannot describe the overwhelming success of our donation drive for the recent flood victims. It is safe to say our donation drive was a tremendous success with approximately 7,500 items being donated. In just two (2) school days, our students, families, and friends collected enough items to fill an entire truck bed and trailer!
Little Dog, Bullseye, was excited to help pack the truck and trailer before it headed South. Items were delivered yesterday by local volunteers to help alleviate the unimaginable devastation caused by the floods. The incredible team we have built should be proud of the humanitarian efforts to #UniteToMakeADifference!
