Attention DCES Parents & Guardians. Please be aware of parent pick-up changes that will start next Monday, October 21, 2024. Thank you for your understanding.

ATTENTION PARENTS:
Doddridge County Schools would like to clarify that tomorrow, Monday, October 14th, is a regular school day, with both staff and students in attendance. It is our understanding that some incorrect information may be circulating, and we want to ensure everyone is informed. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
Congratulations to our Little Dogs of the Week: Elijah Collins, Henzley Hinzman, Jason Pratt, Ryan Rebert, Kelsei Fragmin, and Aiden Hall.
Well done, Little Dogs! Keep up the great work!

Today, through a partnership with our Holistic Child Department/Communities in Schools, Child Nutrition program, Route 18 Farmer's Market and the Doddridge County Farmer's Market, DCES students were able to participate in an attendance incentive of an onsite "Famer's Market". Attendance Matters and being at school on this beautiful day allowed our students to participate in this event. Students were given tokens and bags to shop for a variety of produce including cabbage, peppers, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, apples, and many more other fruits and vegetables. Students were excited to shop for their own produces and could not wait to get their items home to help with a family meal!
DCES would like to thank our Holistic Child Department/Communities in Schools, Child Nutrition program, Route 18 Farmer's Market and the Doddridge County Farmer's Market for their time and resources to ensure our students are making healthy choices.

When it matters most, we know we can count on the kindness of Doddridge Countians. A HUGE "Thank You" to our Doddridge County students, families, and friends for turning a vision into reality. Words cannot describe the overwhelming success of our donation drive for the recent flood victims. It is safe to say our donation drive was a tremendous success with approximately 7,500 items being donated. In just two (2) school days, our students, families, and friends collected enough items to fill an entire truck bed and trailer!
Little Dog, Bullseye, was excited to help pack the truck and trailer before it headed South. Items were delivered yesterday by local volunteers to help alleviate the unimaginable devastation caused by the floods. The incredible team we have built should be proud of the humanitarian efforts to #UniteToMakeADifference!

Attendance Matters at DCES!
The Great Pumpkin will be visiting DCES on a random day in October. Students are encouraged to be in school every day! Students in attendance on the day the Great Pumpkin visits will be able to pick and take home a pumpkin!

Tonight, the Doddridge County Board of Education welcomed Sheriff Boring and the Doddridge County Sheriff’s department to their meeting and School Resource Officer Kirby Miller. This year marks the 15th year for Prevention Resource Officers in the school system. The board held a small reception to recognize the partnership in student safety and mentorship provided by the officers.
Chad Evans, president of the Board of Education stated “Doddridge County Schools is honored to present this award to Sheriff Boring, his dedicated deputies, and School Resource Officer, Kirby Miller, in recognition of their unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our students and community. Through their tireless collaboration with our schools, they have created a secure and thriving environment for our children. Their dedication to safeguarding our students is truly invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for the vital role they play in ensuring the future of Doddridge County. This essential work is made possible by the continued support of our taxpayers and the school levy. Your contributions are not only crucial to maintaining the safety of our students but also to the ongoing success of this vital partnership. We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional efforts of Sheriff Boring, his deputies, and SRO Miller, and we deeply appreciate your role in helping us protect and nurture the future of our community.”
Superintendent Scott Cochran also thanked the officers, “School safety is a primary responsibility of public schools. We want to recognize Sheriff Boring, his deputies and Mr. Miller not only for keeping our students safe, but for being exemplary role models in our schools.”
REMINDER FOR PARENTS: Tomorrow, Monday, October 7th, is a scheduled Professional Learning Day for our staff. As a result, students will not have school.

Doddridge County Schools motto is "United to Make a Difference" and when it matters most, Doddridge Countians show up to make a difference in not only the lives of their own, but those who need it the most.
Doddridge County Elementary School would like to bring hope to those who desperately need our help. DCES will be hosting a donation drive for items in the flyer below. Items collected will be hand delivered next week.
We know the timeline is short, but when it matters most, we know we can count on our community for help. We are asking that if you have the means to assist, please help us unite to make a difference to our friends and neighbors to our South. Please send in any items you can donate by 8am Tuesday, October 8th. The classroom with the most items donated will win a classroom pizza party!
Take a minute to share this post with family and friends to help spread the word of our donation collection. We hope to reach our broad community of parents/guardians and partners in education.

We are truly grateful for the hard work and dedication of our custodians and maintenance staff at Doddridge County Schools. Their attention to detail keeps our schools clean, safe, and well-maintained, creating an ideal learning environment for our students. Whether it's preparing the buildings for the day ahead or handling critical repairs, their efforts are vital to our daily operations.
Thank you for all you do to keep our schools running smoothly! Your hard work never goes unnoticed, and we appreciate you.

PUBLIC NOTICE TO HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES RESIDING IN DODDRIDGE COUNTY FOR THE 2025 STATE ASSESSMENT OPTION (NON-REQUIRED.)

First grade students have been learning about Johnny Appleseed! Students created Johnny Appleseed sentences, learned the parts an apple, and the life cycle of an apple tree. Today students made applesauce! Students learned how to use an apple peeler and safe knife cutting skills. After smelling the apples cook all day, students were finally able to smash and eat the applesauce.
Second grade students at DCES have been learning about animal habitats recently and were to make dioramas that represented animals they selected. We must say that our second grade students are skilled in not only knowledge but their creativity!
Doddridge County Elementary School held their first "Special Persons" lunch. We were thrilled to see as many parents as we did. We look forward to more special persons lunches, so please look for further announcements in the near future!
